Congratulations to Eman El-Badawi and Michael Ferrante on winning the Township Committee election!

The Cranbury Democratic Committee extends a hearty congratulations to Mayor Michael Ferrante who was re-elected to the Cranbury Township Committee for a second term, and to Eman El-Badawi who was elected to her first term, in New Jersey’s general election on November 2, 2021.

The CDC endorsed both candidates and was proud to work with them during their campaign as they spent months getting to know neighbors, listening to concerns, and explaining their goals for the town.

From the start Eman and Michael established a positive tone for the race. Their platforms included emphasis on community building, communication, and transparency. They also focused on environmental preservation and fiscal responsibility.

Michael, who has championed the building of the new library since the project’s inception, will continue to serve for three years, and will get to see the project through to its conclusion. It is well on its way!

During his year as mayor, Michael initiated a “Mayor’s Update” news report posted each month on the municipal website, which he will continue through the end of the year.

Eman came roaring back to win following a defeat in her first run for Township Committee back in 2019. During the intervening years she has attended almost every Township Committee meeting, making herself well versed in all the issues facing the community. She has also spread her message of outreach, community building, and neighborliness to every corner of Cranbury.

Eman is the first Muslim to serve on the Township Committee. She will be only the sixth woman ever to serve on the Cranbury Township Committee, and her ascent to the position will mean the Committee has a female majority for the first time in history.

The CDC is thrilled to have such great leaders representing the concerns and values of our town going forward.
