On February 9 the Cranbury Democratic Committee hosted a “Meet and Learn More” event at Cranbury Public Library. More than 40 residents, ranging in age from 15 to 85, came to hear about what the CDC does, how the Township Committee works, and how they can support our work in the community.
CDC Vice Chair Laura Zurfluh presented information on how to run for office, what the Middlesex County Democratic Organization (MCDO) is, and what values the CDC looks for in candidates to endorse. Communication Coordinator Holly Johnson noted the CDC’s success in helping build a more supportive and diverse Township Committee over the past 5 years.
The night’s special guest speaker was State Senator Linda Greenstein who represents Cranbury (and has her offices in town) as part of New Jersey’s 14th District. Greenstein discussed her upcoming reelection platform, described her work in the state senate, and answered questions on topics from book banning to liberal overreach.
Cranbury’s current Deputy Mayor Eman El-Badawi, and immediate past Mayor Barbara Rogers, both spoke about their experiences running for office, and how they have pursued their commitments to public service through their work on the Township Committee. They described the projects they are currently working on and emphasized how serving on the TC has allowed them to promote safety and health for all residents, regardless of political affiliation.
