Hundreds of Cranbury residents came out to support their Democratic candidates on June 6, 2023, and the results have now been certified. Township Committee member Matt Scott received the support of his constituents and now moves on to the general election in November.
Up the ballot, Senator Linda Greenstein, moved forward unopposed. Assembly candidates Wayne DeAngelo and Tennille McCoy also advanced, both receiving more than 5,000 votes, while the two Republicans who will be their rivals in the general election each received fewer than 2,000 votes.
Cranbury CDC members were proud to have nominated McCoy for endorsement by the Middlesex County Democratic Organization at the MCDO meeting in March. McCoy is running for the spot vacated by Dan Benson who is currently running for Mercer County Executive against long-time incumbent Brian Hughes.
A full slate of Cranbury Democratic Committee members was elected, including two newcomers. MariCris McDowell will represent District 2. She earned her position through write-in votes. Aimee LaBrie was elected to represent District 3.
They join Cassie Shea from District 2 and Holly Johnson from District 3 who were both reelected for second terms. Dan Harshbarger and Laura Zurfluh were reelected to represent District 1, Dan for his second term and Laura for her third. Not sure where the three districts are?
