Thank you to Mayor Knierim, Deputy Mayor El-Badawi and the other Township Committee Members for their tireless efforts in pursuing an alternative site to the Henry farm to meet our affordable housing obligations!
The requirements to meet the affordable housing sites included a 250 foot setback from a warehouse. By amending this setback to be defined from active warehouse activity, rather than the warehouse property line, the Township Committee was able to find another parcel of land that would meet all requirements. And today that rule was amended following:
- An August 20 written request from Mayor Knierim.
- In-person testimony at the statehouse from Deputy Mayor El-Badawi and Planning Board Chair Wayne Wittman on August 21.
- A direct appeal to Cranbury residents by Mayor Knierim to submit comments to the state asking for this amendment.
- And YOUR letters and emails to the state asking for them to relax this rule.
Together, Cranbury residents and leaders were successful in allowing an alternative parcel of land to be used for our affordable housing obligations, and allowing the Henry farm to remain unchanged.
